🍷Wines of Bergerac and Duras: our favourite estates to visit
Nestled between bastide towns and rolling vineyards, the Périgord Pourpre is also a land of wine. Bergerac, Monbazillac, Pécharmant, Saussignac, Côtes de Duras… Behind these names lie family-run estates, stories of passion, and some of the most beautiful landscapes in southwest France.
Whether you prefer full-bodied reds, crisp dry whites or luscious dessert wines, the region offers a wealth of wonderful discoveries. Here are a few of our favourite vineyards to visit near La Petite Auberge.

Appellations: Bergerac AOC, Côtes de Bergerac, IGP Périgord
Our favourite: their fruity rosé (perfect for summer) and their aromatic dry white

🏰 Château de Monbazillac
You can’t talk about Bergerac wines without mentioning the most famous sweet wine of them all: Monbazillac. The château overlooks the valley with breathtaking views of Bergerac.
The site beautifully combines heritage and oenology — château visit, museum, boutique and tasting all in one. A must for anyone who loves dessert wines.
Appellation: Monbazillac AOC
Our favourite pairing: with local blue cheese or foie gras
